Baseball Recap: Gateway Starts Season with Win Against Celebration

Gateway gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the Celebration Storm by a score of 9-5. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maicol Santiago made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Santiago was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, Diego Vazqueztell was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. Adrian Just was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Gateway will head out to challenge Innovation at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Celebration, they will venture away from home to face off against Poinciana at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
