Basketball Game Preview: Nimitz Vikings vs. Pearce Mustangs

Nimitz is 1-9 against Pearce since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Nimitz Vikings will be playing at home against the Pearce Mustangs at 7:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Nimitz had to suffer through a 58-22 loss at the hands of Lake Highlands.

Meanwhile, Pearce made easy work of MacArthur on Tuesday and carried off a 48-27 win. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Cardinals are ranked 1108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nimitz's loss dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Pearce, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season.

Nimitz took a serious blow against Pearce in their previous meeting on January 7th, falling 59-18. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pearce's Tatum Vroonland, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 20 points and six steals. Now that Nimitz knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
