League recap: Abshire dominating on the mound for La Quinta

Desert Valley league recap: 4/3/13

Trevor Abshire was the top pitcher in Desert Valley this week, leading La Quinta. Over the past week, he had one win and ten Ks.

Top honors in the league this week go to Palm Desert, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Aztecs beat Indio 3-0, Eastlake 4-2 and Bonita Vista 6-5.

The Rajahs' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing eight hits and zero walks to lead the league in both categories.

The Blackhawks stole 15 bases this week, adding to their league-leading 50 steals on the year.

Eight batters hit over .400 this week. They were led by Tino Santos, who hit .500 this week (2-for-4).



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Abshire, who turned in ten Ks for La Quinta. He's fourth in the league with 27 total strikeouts.

Xavier Prep's Alan Ferrer struck out ten Desert Hot Springs hitters en route to a 17-5 victory on March 26. Over five innings of work, he gave up three hits and one run.
