Basketball Recap: Hadley West Key Part of a Team Effort in Squires Win

Manchester won the last time they faced Rochester and things went their way on Saturday too. The Manchester Squires walked away with a 40-31 win over the Rochester Zebras. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Squires' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Zebras are ranked 94th).

Manchester got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hadley West out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. West has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton Ream, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points.

Rochester's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Wilson, who posted 12 points and three steals. Rylee Clevenger was another key player, putting up eight points.

Manchester is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Rochester, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Manchester will face off against Peru at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Peru will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Manchester surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rochester, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
