Basketball Recap: Maplewood Takes a Loss

Maplewood suffered their biggest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 77-39 loss at the hands of the Fort LeBoeuf Bison. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-22.

It was another big night for Carson Papay, who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten steals for Fort LeBoeuf. Those ten steals gave Papay a new career-high. Hunter Villa was another key player, going 8 of 11 en route to 16 points and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Maplewood and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for Fort LeBoeuf, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Maplewood Tigers challenge the Saegertown Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort LeBoeuf, they will face off against Titusville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort LeBoeuf has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 218 points over their last three contests.
