Basketball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

Centennial won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They came up short against the Oakland Wildcats, falling 62-40. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 39th in Oregon, while the Wildcats are ranked 335th in California).

Leading Oakland to victory were Rohm Neal and Romyn Waugh. Neal went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points and three steals, while Waugh went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points. That's the most points Neal has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Te'Mond Gamble, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Centennial now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Oakland, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Centennial didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-45 victory against Springfield on the 13th. Oakland and Mater Academy East Las Vegas will compete for holiday cheer at 3:45 p.m. on December 18th. Oakland has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three games.
