Basketball Recap: Canyon Gets the Win

Canyon won the last time they faced Castaic, and Darby Dunn did her part to make sure it happened again. The Canyon Cowboys breezed by the Castaic Coyotes to the tune of 101-25 on Monday thanks in part to Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 15 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Canyon's points.

Shannen Wilson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. She is becoming a predictor of Canyon's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 4-2 (and 10-11 when she doesn't).

When it comes to explaining why Castaic lost, don't look at Alana Clark. Despite the final result, she posted eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Clark a new career-high in blocks (three).

Canyon now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Castaic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 41-40 loss against Hart on the 5th. As for Castaic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-24 victory against Beverly Hills on the 4th.
