Basketball Game Preview: Turner County Titans vs. Irwin County Indians

Having just played yesterday, the Turner County Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Irwin County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Turner County earned a 75-68 victory over Echols County. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Wildcats are ranked 542nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Irwin County beat Brooks County 69-58 on Saturday.

Turner County better keep an eye on Caleb Barrett. He was instrumental in Irwin County's win, going 5 of 7 en route to 13 points. Barrett continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zay Payne, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 13 points.

Turner County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Irwin County, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.

Turner County strolled past Irwin County in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 62-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Turner County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
