Midland Trail's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Campbell led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Campbell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Gladwell, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Nicholas County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaiah Miner, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Miner grabbed two or more steals. Ethan Collins was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Midland Trail's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Nicholas County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Midland Trail will stay at home for another game and welcome Greater Beckley Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in West Virginia (Greater Beckley Christian is ranked 56th, while Midland Trail is ranked 37th). As for Nicholas County, they will head out on the road to take on PikeView at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. PikeView has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
