Softball Recap: Red Bud Takes a Loss

If Red Bud was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Pinckneyville last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Musketeers fell just short of the Chester Yellowjackets by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The contest marked the Musketeers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Julia Ohlau spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Ava Wagner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Red Bud's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Chester, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Red Bud is taking a road trip to square off against Okawville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chester, they will face off against St. Bede at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
