Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for River Ridge/Scales Mound

River Ridge/Scales Mound barely beat Warren/Stockton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats blew past the Warhawks 10-3 on Tuesday. The Wildcats have beaten the Warhawks the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warhawks has come to flipping the script.

Elizabeth Rife spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, River Ridge/Scales Mound got a massive performance out of Alyssa Wentz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Wentz has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Laiken Haas, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and two runs.

Wentz wasn't the only one working in the home run department: River Ridge/Scales Mound lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

River Ridge/Scales Mound's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Warren/Stockton, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

River Ridge/Scales Mound will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warhawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
