Football Recap: Lawrence-Nelson Skates Past Elmwood-Murdock with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Lawrence-Nelson rose to the challenge on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 78-42 win over the Elmwood-Murdock Knights. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Wyatt Frey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 272 yards and seven TDs while picking up 13.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 80 yards and one touchdown while completing 85.7% of his passes. Those 272 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jackson Williams helped out on the ground, rushing for 87 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lawrence-Nelson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 385 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Elmwood-Murdock still got an impressive performance from Dashiell Coleman, who rushed for 163 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With that strong performance, Coleman is now averaging an impressive 100.5 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Carson Towle, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one TD.

Lawrence-Nelson's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Elmwood-Murdock, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 8-2 record.

Looking ahead, Lawrence-Nelson will face off against Howells-Dodge on Friday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight games. Elmwood-Murdock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
