Basketball Recap: West Monroe Takes a Loss

West Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Neville Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Tigers are ranked 18th).

Erynn Felton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Neville, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 13 steals. The dominant performance gave Felton a new career-high in points. Mckenzie Puckett was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

West Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Neville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.

West Monroe has already played their next game (against Sterlington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Neville Tigers take on the Ouachita Parish Lions at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th.
