Volleyball Recap: Franklin County Wildcats vs. Lawrenceburg Tigers
Franklin County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 25th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lawrenceburg Tigers. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 21-25, 25-11.
Franklin County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lydia Rosenbarger, who had 19 digs and four assists, and Hayden Mergenthal, who had seven digs and one assist.
Lawrenceburg's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellyse Shealy, who had 20 digs and five assists. Shealy is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Grayson Messer was another key player, getting eight digs.
Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Lawrenceburg, their record is now 10-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Franklin County will venture away from home to square off against Oldenburg Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lawrenceburg, they will head out to take on Holy Cross at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
