Volleyball Recap: Herbert Hoover Falls Short Against Ranked Winfield

Herbert Hoover faced Winfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Huskies took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Generals. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Generals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Herbert Hoover might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Winfield: every set was decided by exactly two points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 28-26.

Herbert Hoover lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braelyn Adkins, who had 18 digs and two assists. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Hackney, who had 17 assists and eight digs.

This is the second loss in a row for Herbert Hoover and nudges their season record down to 28-4-1. As for Winfield, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-6-2.

Coincidentally, Herbert Hoover and Winfield will both be playing Point Pleasant the next time they take the court. The Huskies will host the Big Blacks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Generals will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
