Basketball Recap: Kayla Touokong's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bethel Academy over Center Place

Bethel Academy played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Center Place Golden Eagles, falling 40-19. Bethel Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bethel Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kayla Touokong, who posted six points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Liberty Atkins, who had seven points.

Center Place got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabelle Howen out in front who put up seven points and 16 rebounds. Howen has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 13 times she's played. Rylie Kroesen was another key player, putting up 11 points and six steals.

Bethel Academy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Center Place, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Bethel Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Clinton Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Center Place, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-42 win against Overland Christian on the 9th.
