Softball Recap: Notre Dame (SO)'s Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Notre Dame (SO) had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines. Considering the Knights have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Alisha Covarrubias made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Notre Dame (SO) got a massive performance out of Adiah Fountain, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Fountain has posted since back in March. Aliyah Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Notre Dame (SO) pushed their record up to 23-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Harvard-Westlake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season.

Notre Dame (SO) does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harvard-Westlake, they will take on Highland at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
