Basketball Game Preview: Notus Pirates vs. Victory Charter Vipers

The Notus Pirates will challenge the Victory Charter Vipers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Notus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season.

On Wednesday, Notus ended up a good deal behind Riverstone International and lost 55-40. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Otters: they've now lost five in a row.

Loss or not, Notus got some senior leadership from Luis Vargas and Benny Guevara. Vargas went 6 for 13 en route to 19 points, while Guevara almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Vargas is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Victory Charter). They blew past Gem State Adventist Academy 80-42 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Vipers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Victory Charter pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Notus, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
