Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Tyrone

Tyrone entered their tilt with Mount Union on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 8-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-2 back in March.

Eli Woomer looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, A Walk and L Hamer did most of the damage at the plate: Walk went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Hamer went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Hamer's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Shirey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Tyrone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Tyrone's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Mount Union, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.

Tyrone and Mount Union should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Golden Eagles (ranked 149th) will meet Bellwood-Antis (ranked 407th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mount Union will challenge Claysburg-Kimmel at 1:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (142 vs. 324).
