Mt. Vernon proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 42) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They slipped by the Watkins Memorial Warriors 28-27. For the Yellowjackets, this counts as revenge for the 27-21 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.
Mason Richards was his usual excellent self, rushing for 193 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 16 yards and one TD. Landon Dawson was in the mix as well, providing Mt. Vernon with two scores.
