Basketball Game Preview: Foster Falcons vs. Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders

The Foster Falcons will face off against the Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Foster is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 68-53 win over Alief Hastings on Friday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Bears are ranked 1059th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Foster can attribute much of their success to Jalen Stephanson, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Stephanson a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron Martin, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and six assists.

Foster was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alief Hastings only racked up seven assists.

Meanwhile, Strake Jesuit had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past the Bears 56-35.

Strake Jesuit has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Foster, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-8.
