Volleyball Recap: University Prep Academy Takes a Loss

University Prep Academy had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Design Tech Dragons, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Golden Eagles have suffered against the Dragons since September 22, 2022.

Amrit Rana paced University Prep Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Rana got some help from Abigail Vo and her 23 assists. Rana was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

As for Design Tech, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against University Prep Academy since September 22, 2022.

Leading Design Tech to victory were Eliot Trainor and Mina Lee Hwong Bartlett. Trainor had six digs and four aces, while Lee Hwong Bartlett hit 69.2% for 19 kills and ten digs and two aces. Lee Hwong Bartlett has been hot, having posted six or more kills the last seven times she's played. Sonia Teismann also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. University Prep Academy will challenge rival KIPP San Jose Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Design Tech is set to take on their familiar foe Pacific Bay Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
