Football Recap: Sunnyside Skates Past Madera South with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sunnyside). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 60-14 victory over the Madera South Stallions. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Stallions are ranked 886th).

Johnathan Diaz had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, while also throwing for 141 yards and two TDs on only ten passes. Another player making a difference was Bob Davis, who rushed for 92 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sunnyside proved: they limited Madera South to a paltry 3.5 yards per carry. The Wildcats didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.

Despite the loss, Madera South still got an impressive performance from Jairo Parra, who threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 50 yards.

Sunnyside's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Madera South, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will venture away from home to take on Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Rough Riders have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Madera South, they will challenge Sanger West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
