Softball Recap: Westlake Has No Trouble Against Verdugo Hills

While Westlake put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Verdugo Hills. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Dons. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Emma Tedder looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Westlake got a massive performance out of Sydney Katz, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Katz a new career-high. Jocelyn Humphreys was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Westlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

The win snapped Westlake's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-11 record. As for Verdugo Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9-1 record this season.

Westlake will take on Venice at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Gondoliers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Verdugo Hills, they will square off against Kennedy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
