Softball Recap: Clemente Comes Up Short

Clemente entered their matchup against Juarez on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats came up short against the Eagles, falling 21-14. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (12), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Kayla Porrata and Sabrina Negron stepped up to the plate in a big way. Porrata got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Negron got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Negron is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Robinson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Clemente and nudges their season record down to 8-3. As for Juarez, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.

Clemente has already played their next contest, a 17-4 win against Goode STEM Academy on the 28th. As for Juarez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-6 victory against Solorio on the 28th.
