Softball Game Preview: Meadow Heights Panthers vs. Greenville Bears

Meadow Heights is 0-4 against Greenville since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will challenge the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Meadow Heights has given up an average of 19.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Meadow Heights is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Advance, falling 15-2.

Meanwhile, Greenville posted their closest victory since April 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Naylor 10-8. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

M Hill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, J Keister was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. R McCummiskey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Greenville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Greenville's record now sits at 2-4. As for Meadow Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Meadow Heights suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Greenville when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
