Baseball Recap: Worcester Academy Wins High-Profile Match Against Phillips Academy

Worcester Academy faced Phillips Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Hilltoppers came out on top against the Big Blue by a score of 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hilltoppers.

Cole Hambly made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Daly, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Danny Flynn was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Worcester Academy pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Phillips Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
