Lake Station Edison is 2-8 against River Forest since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Fighting Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Ingots at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Lake Station Edison is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on East Chicago Central with a sharp 26-14 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Fighting Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.

Clayton Hammons was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (four). Xavier Moore was another key player, going 3-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Lake Station Edison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.
Meanwhile, River Forest waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Wolves 16-3. Considering the Ingots have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brandon Fergerson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Walter Jaime was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Roberto Herrera, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Lake Station Edison has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for River Forest, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lake Station Edison has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like River Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lake Station Edison might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from River Forest when the teams last played back in April. Will the Fighting Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
