Rapides needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Zayveian Johnson. The Mustangs pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over the Port Barre Red Devils on Friday thanks in part to Johnson, who posted 27 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Rapides' win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-13. As for Port Barre, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Rapides will take on Bolton Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.18 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Port Barre, they will head out on the road to challenge Elton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
