Basketball Recap: University Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Leah Norvell and Anyah Turley

On Tuesday, the University Trailblazers ended up a good deal behind the Decatur Central Hawks and lost 51-37.

University's loss came despite strong showings from Anyah Turley and Leah Norvell. Turley posted 11 points and four steals, while Norvell had eight points in addition to nine rebounds and five assists. Sydney Culp was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive games.

University dropped their record down to 8-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Decatur Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-13.

University will face off against Speedway at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Decatur Central, they will be playing at home against Plainfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Plainfield will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Decatur Central surely won't give up without a fight.
