Basketball Recap: Corner Canyon Falls Despite Big Games from Tyler Mortensen and Josh Tolman

Corner Canyon had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the IMG Academy Ascenders.

Despite the loss, Corner Canyon had strong showings from Josh Tolman, who went 9-for-18 on his way to 20 points, and Tyler Mortensen, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 19 points and three steals. Tolman is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Mo Brown was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

The victory (which was IMG Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Corner Canyon has already played their next game, a 62-58 win against Orem on the 26th. As for IMG Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Sarasota at 12:30 p.m. on the 4th. The Ascenders will need to watch out since the Sailors have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
