Football Recap: Brownstown Central Skates Past Salem with Ease

Brownstown Central extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-0. They blew past the Salem Lions 63-7. Fans of the Braves have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Preston Garrison and Lindan Lanier. Garrison rushed for 96 yards on only five carries while Lanier rushed for 60 yards.

Brownstown Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 324 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 237 rushing yards in three consecutive matches.

As for Salem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Brownstown Central is ranked 78th).

When it comes to explaining why Salem lost, don't look at Payton Schocke. Despite the final result, he rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Schocke's longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brownstown Central will welcome North Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Salem, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Springs Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Blackhawks have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
