Football Game Preview: Groton Red Hawks vs. Tioga Tigers

The Groton Red Hawks will take on the Tioga Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Groton took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Sidney 20-18.

Meanwhile, Tioga came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 35-18 victory over the Bobcats. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Bobcats are ranked 387th).

The win got Groton back to even at 2-2. As for Tioga, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Groton might still be hurting after the 37-14 loss they got from Tioga in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Thankfully for the Red Hawks, Emmett Wood (who rushed for 254 yards and four scores on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
