Baseball Recap: Imperial Triumphs

Imperial's tournament run continued when they took on Somerton on Saturday. The Tigers came out on top against the Toros by a score of 8-3.

Bruno Hernandez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Gastelum, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Trey Ruiz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Imperial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Somerton only managed six.

Imperial's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Somerton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Imperial didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Hoover on the 7th. As for Somerton, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-6 loss against Central on the 7th.
