Softball Recap: Edison Has No Trouble Against Spencer-Van Etten/Candor

Edison never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Spencer-Van Etten/Candor Eagles 16-0. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Emily Aiello, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Kailey Ripley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Edison lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Edison and bumps their season record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Edison will square off against Notre Dame at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Spencer-Van Etten/Candor will be paying especially close attention to the Spartans' contest: after the Spartans face off against the Crusaders, they'll take on Spencer-Van Etten/Candor again at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
