Baseball Recap: Donahue Catholic Comes Up Short

After flying high against Everglades City on Wednesday, Donahue Catholic came back down to earth. The Shamrocks fell 7-4 to the Mason Classical Academy Paladins on Thursday. The Shamrocks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Paladins earlier this season, when they won 16-7.

Nico Baalman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing five bases while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Donahue Catholic: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jack Kadlec, who scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Donahue Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Mason Classical Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.

Donahue Catholic will take on The Village School of Naples at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Shamrocks surely won't give up without a fight. Mason Classical Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
