Saint Viator gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rolling Meadows Mustangs an 8-0 shutout. The Lions not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024.

Not much got past Carley Heiden, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Rolling Meadows off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Moreno, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kayli Burke, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Rolling Meadows' loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saint Viator is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Sycamore at 12:00 p.m. on March 26th. Rolling Meadows will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Maine East at 4:45 p.m. on April 1st.
