Basketball Recap: Westwood Comes Up Short

Westwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 55-28 loss at the hands of the Mexia Black Cats. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1076th, while the Black Cats are ranked 412th).

Lyla Huddleston was Westwood's leading scorer, having posted 16 points. Danika Aristide held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. Makyla Barrett took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Mexia, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6.

Westwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-37 defeat against Buffalo on the 24th. As for Mexia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-37 victory against Elkhart on the 24th.
