Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Indian Takes Down Hatch Valley in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Santa Fe Indian had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past the Hatch Valley Bears 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Braves have posted since April 10th.

Dontrell Aguilar was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kellin Tsosie, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Santa Fe Indian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

The win made it two in a row for Santa Fe Indian and bumps their season record up to 14-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Hatch Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-15.

Coming up, Santa Fe Indian will venture away from home to take on East Mountain at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Timberwolves have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. Hatch Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
