Softball Recap: Penobscot Valley Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Penobscot Valley put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They didn't even let the Stearns Minutemen on the board, marking the Howlers' second-straight 16-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Howlers in their matchups with the Minutemen: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on Abby Farley, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Miller, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Penobscot Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Penobscot Valley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average this season. As for Stearns, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Looking ahead, Penobscot Valley will face off against Deer Isle-Stonington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Howlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mariners have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Stearns, they will take on Piscataquis at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
