Football Game Preview: Hoover Cardinals vs. Escondido Cougars + How To Watch

The Hoover Cardinals will challenge the Escondido Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hoover is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Mission Bay on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Cardinals took a blow against the Buccaneers, falling 49-14. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Hezekiah Manuel and Trey Arnold. Arnold had a great game and threw for 390 yards and seven TDs while completing 72.3% of his passes. Meanwhile, Manuel was balling out in the loss, rushing for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, while also throwing for 215 yards on ten of 21 attempts.

Meanwhile, Escondido was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by San Pasqual 35-6. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 620th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 186th).

Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Escondido, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
