Basketball Game Preview: Allen East Mustangs vs. Spencerville Bearcats

Allen East is 1-9 against Spencerville since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Allen East Mustangs will take on the Spencerville Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. Allen East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season.

Allen East took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Lincolnview by a score of 49-39. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Lancers are ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rilynn Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 14 on her way to 28 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Rylie Jordan was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.

Allen East was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincolnview only racked up seven assists.

Meanwhile, Spencerville had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 59-31 win over Upper Scioto Valley.

Allen East has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Spencerville, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-9.

Everything came up roses for Allen East against Spencerville when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Allen East since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
