Basketball Recap: Atlanta Jewish Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Yaakov Spaner and Aryeh Cohen

On Thursday, the Atlanta Jewish Academy Jaguar came up short against Rock Springs Christian Academy and fell 65-54. While losing is never fun, the Jaguar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while Rock Springs Christian Academy are ranked 186th).

Atlanta Jewish Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Aryeh Cohen and Yaakov Spaner. Cohen posted 15 points, while Spaner had 18 points. The dominant performance gave Cohen a new career-high in points. Ari Shapiro was another key player, putting up eight points.

Atlanta Jewish Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Rock Springs Christian Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Heritage the next time they take the court. Atlanta Jewish Academy will host Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Rock Springs Christian Academy will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
