Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mayer). They put the hurt on the Maryvale Prep Matador with a sharp 34-24 win on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won four matches in a row.

Gracie Hood was incredible, scoring six runs while getting on base in six of her 12 plate appearances. Those six runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Etherton, who scored three runs while going 4-for-6.

Mayer now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Maryvale Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Mayer wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 29-6 loss against St. Michael on the 5th. As for Maryvale Prep, they will square off against Trivium Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Matador are facing the Crimson Knights at the right time seeing as the Crimson Knights are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
