Baseball Game Preview: Ravenna Ravens vs. Coventry Comets

For the second straight game, Ravenna will face off against Coventry. The Ravens will challenge the Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

While Ravenna's win against Coventry wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ravens had just enough and edged out the Comets 6-5 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won three in a row.

Connor Welling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Welling was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Mitchell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Andrew Mladek also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Ravenna's record is now 4-13. As for Coventry, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.
