Football Recap: Oviedo Skates Past Wekiva with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oviedo). They claimed a resounding 64-0 victory over the Wekiva Mustangs. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Brock Joyce was his usual excellent self, rushing for 100 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Sebastian Galeano was another key signal caller, throwing for 117 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Oviedo, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Carmari Solomon, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Oviedo's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Juan Carlos Payano refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself.

Oviedo now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Wekiva, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Oviedo will be playing at home against Hagerty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Joyce and Royce Jenkins. As for Wekiva, after each having a week off, they and Evans will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The Trojans will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
