Football Recap: Liberty Lancers vs. Air Academy Kadets
Saturday just wasn't the day for Liberty's offense. They came up short against the Air Academy Kadets on Saturday, falling 24-0. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Lancers struggled afterwards.
Lucas Williams threw for 69 yards on nine of 24 attempts. Gavin Leyba was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards. On the ground, Luke McGregor rushed for 33 yards.
Air Academy can attribute much of their success to Cade Ballard, who threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 35 yards. Those 208 passing yards gave Ballard a new career-high. A healthy portion of Ballard's aerial production (112 yards to be exact) went to Noah Edwards.
Liberty is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. As for Air Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Liberty will venture away from home to take on Rampart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Air Academy, they will head out to face off against Durango at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Demons' defense has only allowed 10.7 points per game this season, so the Kadets' offense will have their work cut out for them.
