Softball Recap: Newburyport Clippers vs. Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School Hawks
Newburyport lost against Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School back in June of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Clippers took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Clippers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clara Thompson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Newburyport now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Newburyport will challenge Reading Memorial at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Clippers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School, they will take on Beverly at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
