League recap: University's Rodriguez delivers best pitching performance from past week

R. Rodriguez was the best pitcher in Super Essex - Independence this week, leading University. Over the past week, he had two wins and 15 Ks.

North 13th Street beat University this week, 10-4, in a matchup of the league's top two teams on Monday. North 13th Street sits in first place in the league at 3-0 (6-0 overall).

Arts's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing five hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories. The Jaguars have given up a mere 53 hits on the year, while striking out 50 opposing hitters. Juan Made is the leader in that category with 15 Ks on the season.

The Phoenix, the league leader in stolen bases this season with 124, added to their lead in that category with 26 more steals over the past week. J. Nieves's 25 steals make him the biggest threat on the basepaths for University, which is running wild under the direction of manager David Scutari.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to J. Ramirez, who turned in 18 Ks for the Phoenix. He's second in the league with 72 total strikeouts.



University's O. Ologundudu led the league with six hits this week. His 15 hits for the year are fifth in the league, and he boasts a .333 batting average.

R. Rodriguez threw a shutout as he led University to victory over Science Park, 12-5, on Thursday. He struck out 11, allowing zero hits.

R. Rodriguez struck out 11 in North 13th Street's 10-4 win over University on May 14. He gave up zero hits and zero runs over five innings of work.
