Soccer Game Preview: River Bluff vs. Chapin

The River Bluff Gators will square off against the Chapin Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. River Bluff is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.

On Tuesday, River Bluff made easy work of Irmo and carried off a 4-1 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering River Bluff's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Irmo are ranked 135th).

River Bluff hit Irmo with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Alejandro Romero, Jake Riddle, Harper Vasquez, and Wade Douroux.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Chapin's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Lexington who was credited with the victory. The Wildcats got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Chapin's two. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, Chapin couldn't push the score so high this time.

The win made it two in a row for River Bluff and bumps their season record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those two matches. As for Chapin, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-3.
